Walmart to create hundreds of jobs with new fulfillment centre north of Calgary
Retail giant Walmart Canada will announce a new warehouse in Rocky View County next week, with a sprawling facility that will create hundreds of jobs in the area.
The company will hold an event on Monday to announce a “new high-tech sortable fulfillment centre” in the High Plains Industrial Park at Balzac.
The 430,000-square-foot facility is slated to open in September, as construction has already begun on the building.
“The new sortable fulfillment centre is expected to serve as a delivery hub for millions of customer orders in Western Canada as the retailer invests for growth in Alberta,” states a media advisory from the company issued Friday.
“The project is expected to create hundreds of jobs inside the facility, along with construction and engineering jobs in the Calgary area.”
